Fire Fighter Friday

Salutations, everyone!  As you all know, The Children's Academy of Springfield was paid a very special visit from the Springfield Fire Department this afternoon.  We had the pleasure of meeting the fire fighters and learning very important fire safety tips.  The children were told to call 9-1-1 in case of an emergency, change fire detector batteries at least twice a year, and to always run toward (not away from) fire fighters during a fire.  Students and staff greatly enjoyed and appreciated the visit, especially climbing inside the truck and hearing its siren!

The fire truck visit was great fun, but it wasn't all play and no work this week at The Academy.  Take a look below at students hard at work in their classrooms.

Sensorial Activities

These children are working with Sensorial activity extensions.

In true Montessori fashion, a younger student works with an older student, utilizing the Montessori Broad Stair.

A Transitional Room student comparing lengths with the Red Rods.

Art

Seasonally themed tissue paper bats are a popular activity in the Big Room.
Language

Leaf matching encourages leaf name and letter recognition.

Metal insets assist children with fine motor skills, grip and shape recognition.

Practical Life
This student is practicing sock matching & rolling while sharpening fine motor skills (perfect for helping with laundry!).

We look forward to a full week coming up at The Children's Academy.  With Picture Day on Monday and our school field trip at Snyder Farm on Friday, there are more memorable experiences on the horizon.  Until then, enjoy the weekend, Children's Academy family!
