Diving into 2017

Greetings, all!  2017 is in full swing at The Children's Academy of Springfield.  The children and staff have returned from the winter break refreshed and eager to dive into a new year of learning and development.  Below you will find images of the students working both independently and together in a variety of areas in our classrooms.  So much goes on throughout our days at The Academy that it is a challenge to capture many of the moments.  There are so many times we look at each other and say, "Aw, I wish I would've gotten that on camera!".  We hope the frozen moments of time we have captured this week and last are useful tools in providing insight to your children's daily learning environments.

CULTURAL AND/OR SCIENCE

Learning about the Sun and its relationship with Earth

Partners sharing a book while learning about the solar system.

MATH

Practicing with number scrolls

SENSORIAL

Color tiles can be used in a variety of ways, as seen above and below

An extension using knobbed and knobless cylinders can provide an interesting and complex challenge.

Combining the Pink Tower and Broad Stair is a classic favorite

The knowledge shared by an older peer is always an asset in the Montessori classroom.

LANGUAGE

Sound containers are a wonderful accompaniment to sand paper letters & tracing letters in sand.

PRACTICAL LIFE
There are other important Practical Life skills practiced in all classrooms of The Children's Academy of Springfield throughout the year, but particularly during the cold/flu season.  We have been modeling and encouraging the children to sneeze and cough into their elbows in order to practice keeping one another healthy and preventing the spread of germs.  Thorough hand washing after bathroom use and before eating are additional Practical Life activities we practice within our school.  :)

MISCELLANEOUS

Big brother pride :)

Lastly, very happy birthdays are wished to Landon, Carmen, and Mateo!  We hope you enjoyed your special days.

Until next week, Children's Academy family.
